5 years ago today, Summer Walker released “Still Over It”
Her second album went straight to No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 166,000 units — biggest female R&B opening since Beyoncé's Lemonade — and broke Apple Music's one-day stream record for a woman.

Five years ago today, on November 5, 2021, Summer Walker put out Still Over It on LVRN and Interscope. It was the sequel to 2019's Over It, built as a timeline from August 4, 2019 to October 7, 2021 — the stretch that covered her relationship with producer London on da Track, the pregnancy, the break-up and everything after.
The guest list is stacked. Cardi B narrates on "Bitter". JT of City Girls is on the lead single "Ex for a Reason". SZA joins "No Love". Ari Lennox is on "Unloyal". Lil Durk appears on "Toxic". Pharrell and the Neptunes handle "Dat Right There". Omarion trades verses on "Screwin'". Ciara closes the album with "Ciara's Prayer".

"Ex for a Reason", produced with Sean Garrett and Buddah Bless, came out October 15, 2021. "No Love" followed as a later single. Keith Caulfield's Billboard chart report put the opening week at 166,000 equivalent album units and called it the biggest R&B album opening by a woman since Beyoncé's Lemonade in 2016. It also topped Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums. In the UK it peaked at No. 5.
Critics lined up behind it. Metacritic has it at 85. Billboard ranked it No. 17 on its 2021 albums list, Complex No. 7, Time No. 5, and Jon Caramanica at the New York Times put it at No. 6. The digital cover shows Walker in a car with her hand toward the camera (shot by Rolex); the physical cover, by Deun Ivory, has her holding her daughter in the kitchen.
Interscope said it also broke Apple Music's record for most album streams in a day by a woman. Five years on, is Still Over It still her best album, or has Finally Over It changed your ranking?
